An employee's house in Eaton Park

Much of the built environment, both at Eaton and in certain parts of Chester, was designed by the architect John Douglas.

The 1st Duke of Westminster (1825 – 1899) commissioned Douglas to rebuild a significant number of buildings with the main intent of improving the standards for those employees who at that time were living and working on the estate.

A handful of the original half-timbered, thatched dwellings were saved from demolition and exist to this day.
