The area was planted in 1996 and divided by yew hedging into four separate but connected areas or 'rooms'.
Each room is planted with a mix of Old English roses, herbaceous plants and shrubs, with some topiary.
The Rose Gardens as a whole are further divided by the 200 foot Long Pond running down the centre with three large fountains. To one side are the pink and red rooms; to the other the white and yellow.
On each side of the Rose Garden wooden Pergolas provide a frame for rambling and climbing roses on ropes stretching from one end to the other.
