Like the Victorian Hall, the Stables are the work of Sir Alfred Waterhouse. Completed in 1869, they were built around a central courtyard with the saddle horse stables on one side and harness horse stables on the other.
The complex also includes a harness room and a carriage house with doors opening into the covered area within the arched main entrance. The displays in this area include a ‘Westminster’ harness room, the former stud manager’s office and the skeleton of another successful family racehorse called Touchstone.
