The deliberately non-chronological arrangement of the images and information in the Family History Room provides a fresh and interesting approach to viewing almost one thousand years of Grosvenor history. With the story starting in 1066, visitors can learn about the various Grosvenor family members who fought in the Crusades and in the battles of Lincoln, Crecy, Calais and Poitiers.
The room also contains illustrations of the various Eaton Halls – interiors as well as views from the gardens – and an explanation detailing the significance of the parchment document releasing the manor of Eaton to Raufe Grosvenor in the early 15th century. Altogether there are more than 120 exhibits on the walls whilst a ceiling display shows thedevelopment of the Grosvenor coat of arms through the ages.
