Apple Weekend
at Grosvenor Garden Centre
Apple Weekend is a new initiative that we hope will bring the Eaton Estate community together, in a fun and enterprising way.
We are very fortunate to live in a part of the country which has an abundance of apple trees, yet all too often we do not make full use of the harvest with much of the fruit going to waste.
Apple Weekend is held at Grosvenor Garden Centre each October. Working with the Estate’s village committees and local schools the weekend enjoys enthusiasm from people of all ages.
One important part of Apple Weekend is Apple Juice. Each year, during September and October villagers across the Eaton Estate collect apples and bring them, over the course of Apple Weekend, to The Grosvenor Garden Centre. The apples are then taken to Eddisbury Fruit Farm in Kelsall, to be pressed.
In 2009, 500 bottles of juice were delivered to the village halls in Eccleston, Aldford and Saighton. The juice was then sold in the lead up to Christmas, to raise funds for the villages. To see pictures from the 2009 event please click here.
I very much hope you can be a part of this community initiative in the future. Further information will be available on the garden centre website www.grosvenorgardencentre.com
