Lineage

Lineage

The Grosvenor family motto - "Virtus non stemma" means "Virtue not lineage" - in other words "it is what you do that matters, not who your ancestors were."

Detailed records have been kept for the family since the 1400’s and the unabridged Grosvenor Family Tree is a fascinating but complex document.

The above image was created by Charles Marsden Smedley to illustrate the descent of the current family from their norman ancestor Gilbert le Grosveneur.
